Bisk Club: Independence Day

This is the story of Amanullah Farooq, a freedom fighter who left his home, family and loved ones, like many others during 1971, to fight for his country. He is one of the youngest freedom fighters of the country. The entire country was in turmoil and in the middle of war. He realized that it was his responsibility to look at the bigger picture and fight for his country and countrymen, to achieve independence. He assesses his decision over some time and writes a letter (which later published in “Ekattorer Chithi”, a campaign by Grameenphone and the Daily Prothom Alo – two of the biggest brands of the country) informing his family of his decisions and why he has to do it. He later became a martyr during the war. It was because of the sacrifices that he and many others like him made during that time that we have an independent Bangladesh today.
