Shine On Sierra Leone: 9 Mile Scroll

A powerful new pro bono campaign from David&Goliath titled “9 Mile Scroll.” The effort shines a light on just how far some children walk to school in other parts of the world. In this case, it’s children in the West African country of Sierra Leone, who walk up to nine miles to get to school – down dirt roads lined with deadly snakes, through monsoons, in 100-degree heat with little to no drinking water, past abandoned diamond mines filled with malaria-ridden water, and around bends dominated by traffickers. And that’s just one-way.

To help raise awareness for the nonprofit Shine On Sierra Leone – an organization dedicated to building new schools that bring education closer to the children’s homes – D&G created a campaign that includes the 9milescroll.com website, OOH posters, billboards and an Instagram initiative featuring 9 influencers who tag each other consecutively in one of the 9 miles of the children’s journey.
