Netflix Recommendations: Given the Movie

Trying out a different formula for our regular schedule on Abduzeedo. How about we share Netflix recommendations? We would focus on subjects surrounding design, photography, cinematography and more. For today, we are taking a look at this sublime and beautifully shot documentary entitled: Given the Movie. It’s an exploration through a child’s eyes named Given of his family traveling around the world, going through many cultures across their journey and surfing. I just loved the photography direction by Devin Whetstone, it is earthy, warm and makes you feel part of the entire movie.

Unbelievable Animal Sculptures by Beth Cavener

Gotta love when you find a unbelievably talented artist you didn’t know before! I was struck by the work of sculpture artist Beth Cavener. She not only comes up with the perfect image of animals, but her pieces emote so much beauty and a sense of urgency, it’s amazing.

Small Spaces Envy in Brooklyn’s Greenpoint

Minimal living is having a heydey and with home prices soaring from coast to coast and around the globe, the trend of families moving into small spaces in an effort to amplify their lives is on the rise. We came across this amazing space in Brooklyn’s Greenpoint neighborhood as featured on Dwell last year and were more than inspired to start trolling Redfin for our own space. Not to mention, immediately post all the crud currently housed in our garage on Craigslist. This clever, and we must add talented, couple (Jacqueline Schmidt of Screech Owl Designs and David Friedlander, Communications Director at LifeEdited) proves you really can make it work in under 700 square feet of space, of course a strategic eye for design and luxurious finishing helps too. All photos shot by the talented Matthew Williams.

Amazing Architecture Photography of ICC

Lars Stieger is a freelance designer and photographer from Hamburg, Germany posting some incredible posts on photography and architecture on his Behance profile. Most of them are about architecture or parts of the urban landscape. The difference is the color treatment applied to the photos and of course the capture itself. The composition is flawless in my opinion. It might look easy to do that, but I challenge you to go out to your downtown area and snap some photos. After doing that you will be able to understand how hard it is to capture images like the ones like the Internationales Congress Centrum Berlin or ICC project that Lars shared.
