The World Cup is a huge, loud, colorful and chaotic global party. Illustrator Noah MacMillan wanted to try and translate that energy into a series of illustrations.

“These days with all the incredible tools at our disposal, it can be really helpful to create your own restraints,” said MacMillan. “For each piece, I created a cut paper collage image based on something recognizable and iconic about the featured country; often something from the flag, soccer crest, or some famous landmark. Then, I combined that with a line drawing featuring a key player for the upcoming tournament. I tried to challenge myself to make the player come through as simply as I could. Like any daily project, some of the pieces worked out better than others.”
